Inflammation Sparking Self-Destructive Depression? (Part 3)

Inflammation Sparking Self-Destructive Depression? (Part 3)

In the first and second part of the series you learned about how fiery inflammation in your body is linked to depression and what the traditional medical guys are using to treat it – namely anti-inflammatory drugs with all their possible and perhaps dangerous side effects…

Yet there are better natural options to defeating inflammation…

Foods like like turmeric, clove, garlic are well known for their healthy and inflammation “fire-fighting” power…

Ways of eating (or guidelines to eating) that you can learn about in How to Treat Diabetes Fast is also a step-by-step, week-by-week system to overcome inflammation… where you eat a high amount of healthy fats, and low amounts of processed carbs, sugar and “junk” food…

Eating like this means that your cytokines and C-reactive proteins (CRP) (an inflammatory “signal flare”) vanish just like that…

You can drive your inflammation levels six feed under while feeling full of energy and free of pain…

What if you haven’t checked out Diabetes Mastery Blueprint or How to Treat Diabetes Fast?

Then you can follow the advice below… much of which is also found in those two guides…

The first is…

Snacking on Nuts Drops Inflammation Like a “Sack of Bricks”

Raw nuts are a great source of healthy fat, and eating one ounce (about a handful) of nuts five times per week can slash inflammation… 1 2 3

Reuters reported: 4

“Past research has linked eating nuts to lower rates of heart disease and diabetes, but the exact reason was unknown, senior study author Dr. Ying Bao, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, told Reuters Health.

‘We hypothesized that nuts may exert these health benefits by reducing inflammation,’ Bao said …”

And frankly I’ve discovered based on personal experience that slashing inflammation is a big factor…

I explored more of the research behind it in How to Treat Diabetes Fast

Anyway, if you looked at data from long term studies like the Nurses’ Health Study (NHS) and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (HPFS) you’d discover that people who ate nuts at least five times a week had 20 percent lower CRP levels and 16 percent lower IL-6 than those who rarely or never ate nuts…

… Even after they factored in differences in exercise, weight and smoking…

Both CRP and IL-6 as you learned in part one are “signal flares” that tell you that you have inflammation damage…

In How to Treat Diabetes Fast there’s another overlooked food that does the same thing and is much less expensive than eating nuts…

Plus if you’re allergic to nuts that food may be your best option…

Anyway…

What Other Health Benefits Are There to Nuts?

Well eating nuts also helps with…

  • weight loss 5

  • lower blood pressure (systolic)

  • less risk for metabolic syndrome 6

  • diabetes (which is linked to metabolic syndrome)

  • improved heart health

  • lower risk of sudden death thus giving you a higher chance of a longer life

In one study, people who ate a small handful (1 ounce or 28 grams) of nuts seven times per week or more were 20 percent less likely to die for any reason, compared to those who avoided nuts like the plague…

Plus eating nuts at least 5 times per week was linked to… 7 8 9 10

  • a 29 percent drop in your chance of dying from heart disease

  • and an 11 percent drop in your chance of dying from cancer

Anti-inflammatory “fire-fighting” ingredients in nuts include:

  • fiber
  • magnesium
  • antioxidants
  • the amino acid L-arginine and…
  • unsaturated fatty acids such as α-linolenic acid

Organic, raw and unpeeled nuts are best, as processing or running them through machines can destroy a lot of great nutrients…

Plus most of the antioxidants are actually in the skin…

When nuts (or just about anything) are roasted and/or peeled, those valuable “fire-fighting” antioxidants are lost…

This also applies to the nut alternative I mention in How to Treat Diabetes Fast and its lite version Diabetes Mastery Blueprint

Still it’s better to eat nuts (and the nut alternative I mentioned) than to eat no nuts at all – whether it’s organic or not…

Also you have to hear about…

A Quick Note on Macadamias and Pecans…

Nothing serious really…

Most nuts hit the “sweet spot” for the right amount of energy, high quality protein and right amount of healthy, non-vegetable, wholesome carbs…

Macadamia and pecan nuts provide the highest amount of healthy fat while being on the lower end of the stick in terms of carbs and protein amounts…

Macadamia

Raw macadamia nuts also contain…

  • high amounts of vitamin B1, magnesium and manganese…
  • about 60 percent of the fatty acid in macadamia is the mono-unsaturated fat oleic acid.

That oleic acid amount is about the same level found in olives, which are well known for their health benefits… and is an often missed fact…

One ounce of macadamia nuts has only 4 grams of carbs, but over half of those are non-digestible “super tough” fiber so it provides an ultra-low 2 grams of sugar per ounce of nuts…

Though to be honest that’s not a big big deal unless you’re just starting to treat your diabetes or a weight loss program…

Pecans

Pecans have more than 19 different vitamins and minerals that studies suggest can help you lower LDL cholesterol and promote healthy arteries…

And these same goodies are also in the top 15 foods known for their antioxidant activity, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)…

The big one is vitamin E…

It may help to protect your brain and nervous system…

It also keeps blood “fat” from being transformed or damaged into a body “poison”…

Beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin in pecans also help wash away harmful, mutating free radicals which also guards against searing inflammation damage…

A Price Tag to Match…

The downside of macadamia and pecan is that it’s very expensive to buy on a daily basis…

That’s why the nut alternative in How to Treat Diabetes Fast may be a better bet for those who can’t afford to eat these nuts on a daily basis…

Anyhow, in the next part of the series you’ll learn two more major tools to put out the fires of inflammation… so stay tuned!

Rise from the ashes,

Sunny Lam
